Touchée has been an organic salon on US-1 in Juno Beach since 2004. In practice that means professional ammonia-free color, a product shelf chosen for what it does to hair over years, and a colorist who will tell you what the word does and does not mean. There is no certified organic standard for permanent hair color — so if a salon implies otherwise, that is marketing.
What is actually true here
- We color with Artègo, a professional European ammonia-free line, formulated with up to 99% organic and natural ingredients depending on the service and the specific formula.
- Some of those formulas carry ECOCERT and COSMOS Organic certification. The certification belongs to the color, not to the salon.
- The shelf behind the chair — Olaplex, Malibu C, Alfaparf — is chosen for bond repair, mineral removal and scalp health, which is the part that decides how your color looks in year three.
- Your formula is written on a card and kept. That is what makes the result repeat.
And what it does not mean
Permanent color is a chemical process. It has to be — something has to open the cuticle and something has to deposit pigment inside it. A product that could not do that would be a conditioner. Ammonia-free is a statement about one ingredient: less smell, a gentler swell, a different alkaliser doing the same job. It does not mean chemical-free, it does not mean non-toxic, and it does not mean nobody has ever reacted to it.
If you are pregnant, if you have reacted to color before, or if your scalp is sensitive, say so at the consultation. That changes what we mix, and it is a normal conversation.

Is Touchée a certified organic salon?
No, and nobody is. There is no certified organic standard for permanent professional hair color, so no salon can hold that certification. Does organic, ammonia-free color cover gray?
Yes — up to 100% coverage, including resistant gray, when the formula is built correctly and processed for the full development time. The word organic is not what covers it; the formula is. There is a long answer at does organic color cover gray.
Does ammonia-free mean chemical-free?
No. Ammonia is the alkaliser — the ingredient that swells the cuticle so pigment can get in. Ammonia-free color uses a different alkaliser to do the same job, usually with less smell and a gentler swell. It is a statement about one ingredient, not about the whole formula. Can you still go blonde with ammonia-free color?
Lightening is a separate step from color, and how far your hair can go in one appointment depends on where it is starting, its history and its condition — not on the brand.
