The short answer
Balayage is hand-painted color that grows out softly and usually needs refreshing every three to five months. Foil highlights are placed in sections for brighter, more uniform lift and typically need a touch-up every six to ten weeks. Most clients in Juno Beach end up with a combination of both.
Which one you actually want
The question is not which technique is better. It is how visible you want your regrowth to be, and how often you are genuinely willing to sit in a chair.
Balayage is painted freehand, so it starts softer at the root and blurs the line between colored and natural hair. That is why the grow-out is forgiving. It is the right answer if you travel, if your schedule is unpredictable, or if you have decided you would rather not think about your roots in week seven.
Foil highlights control heat and lift, so they get brighter and more even results, especially close to the scalp. If you want genuine, consistent blonde — not lived-in, not beachy, actually blonde — foils are how that is built. The trade is a visible line at the regrowth and a shorter appointment cycle.
Babylights are very fine foils that mimic the way hair lightens naturally. They are slow to place and worth it on fine hair, where chunky pieces read as stripes.
What Florida does to it
Sun oxidises lightened hair. Pool chlorine and the copper in some local water lay minerals into it. Salt dries it. Together they push almost all blonde and lightened brunette toward brass, and they do it faster here than anywhere our transplant clients came from.
That is why we build a gloss visit into most balayage plans. A short toning appointment between full colors keeps tone honest and buys weeks of shine for a fraction of the time and cost. Balayage on gray hair
Balayage does not cover gray — it lightens what is already there, and gray has no pigment to lift. On hair with scattered gray it can blend beautifully. On hair with heavy or concentrated gray at the temples and part, balayage alone will leave it visible. That may be exactly what you want, or it may not, and it is worth deciding on purpose. How much does balayage cost in Juno Beach?

Balayage is priced by the amount of hair being painted, its length and density, and whether previous color has to be worked around — so a quote given before anyone has looked at your hair is a guess. We give you the number, and the maintenance cost, before we start.
How long does a balayage appointment take?
Usually two and a half to three and a half hours including toning and a blow-dry. Longer if we are working over previous color or lifting several levels.
Is balayage lower maintenance than highlights?
Its regrowth is more forgiving, which means longer between full appointments. It is not maintenance-free: tone still shifts in Florida sun and water, so most balayage clients come in for a gloss between full services.
Can I get balayage if I have box dye on my hair?
Sometimes, but tell us before you book and choose the consultation. Box color deposits unevenly and lifts unpredictably, and the plan may need more than one appointment to get right without wrecking the hair.
Will balayage damage my hair?
Any lightening opens the cuticle, so it is a real chemical service, not a gentle one. We use bond-building support and we will tell you if the level of lift you want is more than your hair should take in one visit. Ammonia-free is not the same as damage-free, and we will not pretend it is.
