Extensions · Juno Beach, Florida

Hair extensions,
fitted honestly.

Wefts, tape-ins, I-tips and K-tips, fitted by a HairDreams-certified salon. Every set starts with a consultation, because the honest answer sometimes is that your hair should not carry them yet — and you should hear that before you pay for anything, not after.

We will tell you if your hair should not have them

Extensions add weight. Weight on compromised hair is how people lose more of it, and a salon that fits a full set onto hair that cannot hold it is selling you damage with a discount on the next appointment.

So the first thing that happens here is an assessment, not a sale. Density at the crown and the nape, the condition of your own ends, how much breakage is already there, what chemical work has been done and how recently. If the answer is not yet, we will say not yet, and tell you what would have to change.

That is also why extensions are quoted after the consultation rather than priced on a menu. The number depends on the method, the amount of hair and the length — and anyone quoting you before they have touched your hair is guessing.

The four methods, and what actually separates them

Wefts. A strip of hair sewn or beaded onto a braided or beaded row across the head. Rows lie flat, carry a lot of hair at once, and suit density more than length alone. Best for hair that can take a little tension across a section rather than tension at single points.

Tape-ins. Thin wefts sandwiched around a section with adhesive tabs. The flattest against the head of the four, quick to fit, and the gentlest starting point if you have never worn extensions — which is why they are often the honest first answer rather than the most profitable one.

I-tips. Small individual strands attached with a bead or micro-link, no heat and no adhesive. Fitted one at a time, so they move independently and suit finer hair where a row would show.

K-tips. Individual keratin-bonded strands, heat-fused to a small section. The most discreet at the root, and the most exacting to place well — placement is the whole job, and the difference between invisible and obvious.

Which one you get is a judgment about your hair, not a preference we have. The right method for fine hair at the temples is not the right method for thick hair being made longer.

Extensions on colored hair is a different job

This is a color salon. Nancy has spent forty years matching color, and extensions live or die on whether they match — not on the day they are fitted, but three months later, after Florida has had a go at both your hair and theirs.

Your own color shifts. Extension hair shifts differently, and usually less. A match made without thinking about how each will behave looks right in the chair and wrong by the spring, which is the single most common reason people take extensions out and do not go back.

So the match is made with the color plan in mind: what your root will do, when your next gloss falls, whether we are lightening you further, and whether the extension hair can be toned with you or needs to be chosen to sit where you are heading.

What Florida does to them

Salt water, chlorine, year-round sun and humidity are hard on your own hair, and they are harder on hair that is no longer attached to a scalp. Extension hair receives no natural oil, so it dries out faster and holds on to brass and mineral build-up more stubbornly.

Sun-lightening happens to extension hair too, and unevenly against your own. Pool chemistry does what it always does, only with less to work with.

None of that makes extensions a bad idea here. It means the maintenance conversation is part of the fitting conversation rather than something discovered later — how you wash, what you sleep on, what a swim does, and how often you are realistically coming back.

What the appointment actually looks like

A consultation first: thirty minutes to look at your hair, match color, talk about length and density and what your week actually looks like. We ask about chemical history deliberately, because what is already on the hair changes what can be done to it.

The fitting is booked separately once the plan and the quote are agreed. Depending on method and amount, a fitting runs anywhere from ninety minutes to a full day — a small set of tape-ins and a full head of individually placed bonds are not the same appointment, and we will tell you which one yours is before you book it, not on the day.

The plan is written down, the same as every color formula here, so the next appointment starts where the last one finished.

If it is thinning rather than short

Extensions add length and thickness to hair that can carry them. If what you are actually dealing with is thinning at the crown or a widening part, that is a different job and a different system — hair integration for thinning hair.

Questions

Do I need a consultation before I can book extensions?

Yes, and it is not a formality. Extensions are quoted after somebody has looked at your hair — the method, the amount and the length all change the number, and so does the condition of what is already there. The consultation is thirty minutes.

Which method is best?

The one your hair can carry. Tape-ins are the gentlest starting point, wefts carry the most hair at once, I-tips suit finer hair, and K-tips are the most discreet at the root. It is a judgment about your density, your condition and how you live, not a ranking.

Will they damage my hair?

Badly fitted or badly maintained, yes — that is true of every method. Fitted onto hair that can carry the weight, placed properly and taken out properly, they should not. Which is why we assess first and will say no when no is the right answer.

Can you match extensions to colored hair?

That is the part we are actually good at. The match is made with your color plan in mind, so it still looks right after your next gloss and after a Florida summer — not just on the day it goes in.

How long does it take?

Anywhere from about ninety minutes to a full day, depending on the method and how much hair. You will be told which before you book, not when you arrive.

What does it cost?

Quoted at consultation. The honest number depends on method, amount and length, and anyone who gives you a figure before seeing your hair is guessing at it.
