The one where the dog gets the beach
2.5 miles of Jupiter shoreline where your plus-one is allowed to be considerably less well behaved than you are.
There are mornings that require an agenda.
And then there are mornings that require a dog, the ocean and absolutely nothing else.
Jupiter has something that still feels surprisingly generous: roughly 2.5 miles of dog-friendly beach running from crossover #26 at Marcinski Road north to crossover #57 at the Carlin Park property line.
Dogs are not required to stay on leash once they are inside the designated area, but this is not a free-for-all. Jupiter asks that dogs be well behaved, non-aggressive and responsive to voice commands. Owners are responsible for keeping them under control and cleaning up after them.
Which feels fair. Everyone gets the beach. Nobody gets to be that dog owner.
Why it is on the Edit
Because this is the kind of local detail that changes a Saturday morning.
You do not need a reservation, an itinerary or an elaborate plan. You need the dog, water, whatever you use to protect your car from the consequences, and enough time to let everyone run around.
It is also one of the things that makes Jupiter feel like Jupiter rather than a generic stretch of South Florida coastline.
Know before you go
- The official dog-friendly area runs from beach marker #26 to #57.
- Dogs should be well socialised and responsive to voice commands.
- Owners are responsible for cleanup.
- Conditions change, so check the Town of Jupiter if weather or water quality is a concern.
